Lucien's Worldly Possessions

He owns an astonishing amount of land in the US. Most of it has affordable housing that his family strives to keep in good shape. A small portion of it is extremely high quality, and high cost, housing.

He also owns a large security organization. It serves many corporations, but it also aids the police in problem areas of many major cities. The aid to police is provided at no cost to cities or residents, although donations are always welcome.

Lastly, he of course has stock in, as well as ownership of, a multitude of smaller businesses, such as print shops, nurseries, and so on.

Most of Lucien's library has been penned in his own hand. Although he can recall any particular passage he wants, he often finds it useful to actually compare passages by viewing them side by side.

Lucien Sullerot has actually been planning on moving to the Twin Cities for a while now. When he found out about the Cities being open to supernaturals again, he began ordering the construction of his primary haven.

He bought a large, wooded piece of land in Maplewood. He had enough space cleared to erect a large house, but left the rest of the trees standing. The house is three stories tall, with a spire that rises from one corner of the house to look above the trees. The construction of the house was very odd compared to modern building methods. The whole of the house was made of brick. It is mostly cinder block filled with foamcrete for insulation, but some of it is smaller building bricks. Both the interior and exterior were then covered with stone facade, marble in some places, granite in others. By Lucien's orders, no wood was put into the construction of the building. Any place where non-stone support was required, aluminum or steel was used instead of wood.

The defences of the haven are many and most are subtle. Where they aren't subtle, they are artistic. A steel fence surrounds the grounds of the mansion. The steel has been treated to look like wrought iron. The gate is supported by 3" wide stone posts reinforced with steel rods running into the ground. The hinges are custom-made, and are very heavy, while still looking artistic. The approach to the gate and to the house itself winds back and forth through the trees. It is barely wide enough for one car to come through (there are small turnarounds every thirty feet or so where a car can pull in if two meet on the drive). There is no single stretch long enough for a car to pick up any decent amount of speed to ram either the gate or the house itself. The road itself is gravel, and is groomed frequently. The gravel gives plenty of traction at low speeds, but is slippery when you get moving too fast.

The grounds of the house are protected by a pack of half-wolf, one-quarter-malamute, one-quarter-sharpei. Most of the breed looks wolfish with slightly larger jaws, but some of them have more of a sharpei look to them. The malamute portion was introduced to make the breed more tractable while retaining the wolfish look, while the sharpei was introduced because that particular breed posseses a jaw strength unknown in any other breed. The pack of normal dogs is seven strong. Between the wolf and sharpei blood in the pack, it is extremely vicious and violent with outsiders. Even Lucien can never expect a warm welcome from them. Between his vampiric nature and several shows of superior strength, though, they do not attack him. He plans to ghoul all of them, but he needs to study the effects of his strange blood on the dogs, and so is going about the process slowly. There are two more dogs in the pack, the alpha male and the alpha female. Both are a breed that Lucien is calling Bandersnatch. They are revenants of his blood. Unfortunately, the four ghouls that gave birth to these two, as well as their litter mates, were killed in a fight for control of the pack. These two are the only two who show Lucien any respect, since they have been raised on his blood. While the rest of the pack fights like wolves, these two stalk up on the prey once it is surrounded and attack from behind.

The doors of the house are all made of heavy aged oak several inches thick. Though it is wood, it would take a very hot fire a long time to get them started on fire. (heavy oak doors in monestaries have been known to survive fires that burned the rest of the building, leaving just the stone shell with some of the doors, charred but intact) There is a security system attached to the house. It alerts Lucien and his retainers, and locks the house down. Only Lucien and his personal assistant can move through certain portions of the house when it is locked down.

There are few windows large enough for a person to get through, and those are criss-crossed by a steel frame.

The lighting of the house is extremely odd. The lights are all small and spread out around each room, making the light dim and diffuse. There are larger lights in most of the rooms so that the servants may work efficiently, but they are only used when necessary. All of Lucien's retainers have starlight goggles so that they may see well in the lower light if necessary, but they only use these when they must. The light in most rooms of the house is about as bright as a clear night with a half moon.

The house has halon-gas fire-suppression systems in every room. Halon gas is non-toxic, humans can survive exposure to it without much harm, as long as they aren't continually exposed. Furthermore, it doesn't damage things like books, so it is safe to use in the library.

The library itself is in the basement, sealed off by a heavy steel door with a vault-style combination and key lock on it.

The house is decorated in odd fashions. Strange stone sculptures stand in almost every room. Paintings and wall hangings range from eleventh-century French to modern art-deco. Actually, the retainers have decorated most of the rooms, since Lucien doesn't seem to care one way or another.

There is a hidden walk-in refrigerator/freezer. Lucien usually keeps several cuts of extremely bloody meat, as well as bottles of animal blood along with his herd's blood.

Lucien has also had a basement apartment in one of his buildings reinforced to make it fire-resistant, and has had heavy-duty halon fire suppression systems put in. The building is in Downtown St Paul (Gallery Towers)

He has also marked out several tombs in the Twin Cities. If necessary, he will be able to use his powers to get into the tombs and seal them up again.

Lucien's Equipment

Short Sword, damascus steel, slightly curved blade, similar to Legolas' swords in the movies. This is strapped to his back, with the hilt coming up to just above the base of his neck. His hair and coat hide the sword well.

A very small, ultra-sharp blade of surgical steel concealed in one of those rings that looks like a claw. Slide the claw back, the blade is exposed.

Long coat lined with Nomex (flame-resistant fabric that the military and chemical companies use to protect against flash fires like small gas explosions and chemical flare-ups, the stuff doesn't really protect against long-burning fires since it's so thin, but it is really difficult to actually burn, so a layer of the stuff keeps quick-burning fires from touching the skin, preventing a lot of the serious damage.) and Kevlar. Probably not going to protect against gunshots, since it isn't really going to absorb the kinetic energy of the shot like armor with metal plates would do, but Kevlar is cut-resistant, so it would help in a swordfight. Might also help with ammo that is made to harm vampires, as it may keep the round from actually puncturing the body. Perhaps one or two health levels of such ammo is bashing instead of lethal. Also would really help if someone was using hollow-tip or glasier rounds, since they'll deform outside of the body instead of in.

This stuff is just amazing. Only cloth that I am more fascinated by is spidersilk, which is supposed to make something as strong as steel with a tenth or less of the weight.

Wide-brimmed hat that has a Nomex hood rolled up inside it. (Lift the hat a little, pull it down over the face) He doesn't wear his hat indoors, that would be rude.

Extremely expensive, shatter-resistant, fire-resistant, titanium-rimmed sunglasses, which he wears almost constantly.

Stun gun in his coat pocket. He's learned that it's easier to get away with assault than murder. Police are more likely to let the trail drop.

Nomex gloves. Again, not worn inside.

Nomex-lined heavy-leather knee-high boots.

A very nice armored Sedan. (inch-thick armored glass windows included)

Two damascus-bladed greatswords. One is hidden in the car where he can grab it and draw it as he is getting out of the car. As he gets up, he just pushes the cushion forward a little bit and grabs the hilt. The blade actually extends into the trunk under the floor of the trunk. The other is hanging on the wall of his room in his haven.
Extremely high-quality, sharp bladed dueling bowie hidden where it can be more easily reached in the back of the car.

Damascus-bladed short sword hidden in the lining of his coffin.

Fireproof, heavily insulated coffin.

White powder makeup (to cover the crystalline bluish tint if necessary) Plastic disposable lighters modified so that the flame is somewhere around 3" high (really easy to do, nice way to startle other vampires if you don't want to actually fight them) Usually carries some odd little thing he is working on, like a mechanical sparrow, perpetual motion machine, or something.

Almost always has four or five of his roses in his coat or in the car.

Authentically-made French styles combined with modern.

Sony Discman, thousands of CDs ranging from Acid Rock to Classical to African Tribal. He actually wears the ear buds in the groove in the ear that is above the ear canal. Allows you to follow along with what people are saying. They frequently won't even realize you're listening to music unless they notice the wires disappearing under your collar. Used to do this in school. He'll be even better off than I was, since he's got Accute Hearing.

The world's smallest functioning flare gun. Sold in the Sovietski Collection Catelog, the thing is tiny. Probably won't do much damage to a Kindred, but sure will give their Beast something to think about.

Obviously, Lucien has no problem with changing with the ages. The thing is, he doesn't change so much as change the tools he uses. During the Crusade, he probably saw a few examples of what Damascus steel could do to the crude steel that the knights were using, and when he found out it was easier to get someone to make something in Damascus, he would have had his weapons special ordered. As he reads about new technology, he merely incorporates it into his life. Perhaps it is the obsession with books that allows him to adjust to the technology so well. He can come to grips with it in his mind long before he is actually exposed to it.

Auguste wears a Nomex/Kevlar lined coat as well as an actual armored vest (that has the metal plates to lessen the impact of bullets)
He also has a .38 special loaded with glasier safety rounds.
